HOW TO GET PROTECTION FROM THE EVIL EYE
Many people who believe in the evil eye have attempted to find
ways to protect themselves and loved ones from it. Alan Dundes, who
was also a folklorist, reiterates the fact that the evil eye is not
just an outdated superstition. He states that it still drives
specific behavior in certain cultures all over the world.
Without a doubt, one of the most popular forms of protection
from the evil eye is by wearing it through jewelry. Read on to
discover why this is the case. We will also enlighten you on three
other protection methods which have been adopted by various
cultures.
1. Wearing Evil Eye Jewelry: Wearing the evil
eye symbol is believed to be enough to protect yourself against the
evil eye. This is usually done by wearing evil eye jewelry, which
has grown to be a huge fashion statement in both believers and
non-believers.
Typically, when in jewelry, the evil eye is blue and white.
However, different colors are used for other meanings. For example,
an orange color can represent protection as well as happiness,
motivation, creativity, and playfulness. Dark blue is for karma and
fate protection, while light blue is for general protection. Dark
green is for happiness, red for courage, brown for connection with
nature, and yellow for health. Gray is for protection against
sorrow, white for focus, and pink for the protection of
friendships.
The symbol can be incorporated into many types of jewelry,
including evil eye rings,
bracelets,
and other accessories.
2. Mirror Talisman: Because of the reflective
property of mirrors, people believe that they will bounce your bad
luck back to the sender. This belief causes some people to arrange
mirrors in their doorways and other commonly used rooms in their
home to ward off bad luck.
3. Coconut Rituals: Coconut rituals involve
getting a coconut and smashing it to the ground. The coconut is
supposed to resemble the bad luck and the evil eye which has cursed
you. This method typically takes place in a 'pure environment',
such as a temple or chapel. The idea is to smash the coconut as far
away from your home as possible, in order to ensure the bad luck
doesn't gravitate back towards you.
4. Magnet Cleanses: Other traditions believe that
a 'magnet cleanse' effectively helps to pull the bad luck away from
you. The ritual involves passing the magnet over your body from
your head to your toes. Legend says to then burn the magnet, in an
attempt to burn the evil eye and all the bad it brings.
