GENERAL HYGIENE AND CARE
Avoid contact with dirty hands or clothing and avoid fiddling
with, tugging or pulling your piercing.
Keep your jewellery in for the duration of your healing
time.
Don't worry if your piercing starts secreting fluid - this is
normal. To clean, use a sterile saline spray or a cotton bud dipped
in saline solution. Always avoid touching your piercing and wash
your hands before and after.
Beauty products and creams do not clean or disinfect the
piercing - they are only lubricants and not a substitute for a
proper cleaning solution.
Don't use soap, beauty products or creams (eg Savlon, surgical
spirit or TCP) to disinfect the piercing. They will slow the
healing process and are deemed too abrasive.
Contact your Piercer if excessive swelling, bleeding, changes in
colour or soreness persist. If you suspect your piercing is
infected, visit your local GP.
