The Afterparty AKA ear piercing aftercare

Everything you need to know to
look after your new piercing(s).

For an ear piercing the only cleanser you need is Antibacterial Cleansing Saline Solution. Use this twice a day, morning and night, every day for the duration of your healing (for more detailed info, see our 'Healing Times' section, below).

You can make your own saline solution at home with 250ml of warm water and ¼ teaspoon of sea salt. Soak a cotton pad in the solution and place it on the piercing for five minutes, followed by a water rinse.

Lobe 6-8 weeks

Helix 6-12 months

Avoid contact with dirty hands or clothing and avoid fiddling with, tugging or pulling your piercing.

Keep your jewellery in for the duration of your healing time.

Don't worry if your piercing starts secreting fluid - this is normal. To clean, hold the jewellery to stop it moving and use cotton wool or cotton buds dipped in the cleaning solution.

Beauty products and creams do not clean or disinfect the piercing - they are only lubricants and not a substitute for a proper cleaning solution.

Don't use soap, beauty products or creams (eg Savlon, surgical spirit or TCP) to disinfect the piercing. They will slow the healing process and are deemed too abrasive.

Contact your Piercer if excessive swelling, bleeding, changes in colour or soreness persist. If you suspect your piercing is infected, visit your local GP.

Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or the sea until the piercing is healed.

Keep hair away from the piercing, as it carries a lot of dirt and oil. Any contact with shampoo, hair dye and other hair products or make-up should be avoided.

Avoid sleeping on your piercing as this can affect the healing. Excessive pressure or constantly sleeping on that side can alter the angle of the piercing when healed.

Be aware of your new piercing and try to avoid catching it on clothing such as hats and scarves, sweaters and jumpers etc.

Our labret earrings are ideal to wear while your piercing is healing. You shouldn't change your earrings before your piercing is fully healed.

Once your new piercing has healed, the options are endless! Change your ear party depending on how you're feeling and switch out your earring for any MV styles.

To remove your earring, hold it from the back and lightly unscrew the head of the jewellery to the left, until the head unscrews from the post.

Once removed, clean your earring in saline solution and store in a clean, dry place to keep your jewellery looking its best.
