Diamonds are one of the hardest natural substances found on earth, formed by the elemental forces of heat and pressure up to 50 miles below the earth's surface more than three billion years ago. Falling under the Zodiac sign Aries, this universally adored precious stone is 140 times harder than sapphire and ruby, which explains why it is symbolic the world over for everlasting love.
The' brilliance' and 'fire' within a diamond is caused by its high refractive index - the highest of any naturally occurring gemstone - so the light will bounce and reflect within the stone, creating that show-stopping 'sparkle' effect. Here's everything you need to know about our diamonds…
A diamond's value, rarity and beauty are determined by 'The 4 Cs', a universal method for assessing the quality and characteristics of any diamond anywhere in the world.
A diamond's cut refers to its ability to reflect and refract light through facets within the precious stone. The way that a diamond is cut - its angles, proportions, symmetry and faceting - all affect how much it sparkles. The cut is what brings a diamond's soul to life. Our diamonds are cut into a round shape, with 17-18 dazzling facets to refract as much light as possible, unlocking their maximum brightness.
A perfect diamond is near impossible to find; nearly all diamonds contain natural inclusions, and the visibility and number of these determine its clarity. The fewer the inclusions, the higher clarity grade and the more valuable the stone. We use slightly included stones with a clarity of I1 and due to their size, these aren't visible to the naked eye and don't affect the diamonds' sparkle.
Graded on their lack of colour, the most valuable and sought after diamonds are colourless, with the exception being rare stones with strong colour traces such as yellow, blue and pink. Our diamonds are H/I colour, which is 'near colourless' on the scale and gives them a radiant white glow
A Carat (ct) is a unit of measure used to weigh the diamonds. One carat is equivalent to ⅕ of a gram - the higher the carat of a single stone, the bigger it is. You can find the carat weight of each piece in its style description.
The diamonds we choose to use in our jewellery are all hand-selected. Each one is then cut from the rough by artisan skilled craftsman, and carefully set by hand.
We pavé set all of our diamonds, which is formed of many small, simple round diamonds set closely together for extra sparkle. Bringing life, fire and brilliance to our diamonds, this elegant setting enhances the diamond's shine, creating a continuous dazzling look.
These special, bright white, untreated diamonds have no chemical elements, which would affect the colour. Sourced globally, we only accept diamonds in the colourless and near colourless range on the colour scale, making ours among some of the purest.
Translucent teal-blue diamonds, irradiated to produce their colour, and each with unique characteristics. Sourced globally, the vibrant blue hue may vary slightly between each diamond.
Sourced globally, these diamonds are untreated to create a translucent champagne hue, also referred to as 'light brown' or 'cognac'. The colour is created through increased amounts of nitrogen in the diamond, and the shade may vary between each.
