Meet Vera and Viola Arrivabene, the sisters behind Vibi Venezia.
In the spirit of OCHRE, we visited their Venetian home to talk about craft, tradition and finding inspiration close to home.
Growing up, Vera and Viola were frequently dressed by their mother in furlane slippers. What began with a desire to make their own became Vibi Venezia: their contemporary take on a centuries-old Venetian craft.
Each pair is made by hand in Italy, bringing together
generations of craftsmanship with the sisters' instinct for colour,
pattern and the unexpected.
This way of making is familiar to us. Looking to what came before,
to find something new within it. For our OCHRE, inspiration came
from sculpture and its ability to capture movement in solid
form.
Different objects but the same belief in the enduring possibilities of craft.
