Meet Me

Meet Tusy Culos, Digital Strategist at design and advertising agency Baron & Baron. We've uncovered her desire to learn French, her love for Picasso and a golden New York secret.

There is so much to love about New York City, but what is it that stands out most to you?

During the day-to-day I take it for granted until I travel outside of city, but it always comes down to the diversity of culture.

You work alongside renowned art director Fabien Baron, what are some of the most valuable lessons you have learnt during your time at Baron & Baron?

Having a good eye and taste does not happen overnight. This is something that takes years to cultivate. Be open, listen, but always go with your gut. Never lose sight of the bigger picture. Have a strong point of view and be able to back it up.

What is your favourite piece of artwork in New York City? Where can we find it and why is it your favourite?

Picasso's She-Goat. The sculpture is made out of scraps of metal and ceramic shards...and it has incredible character. It can usually be found in one of my favourite spots in all of New York, the MoMA sculpture garden.

Describe your personal style and some of your favourite shopping destinations in New York.

I'm not sure if it's because I've been working at Baron & Baron for some time, but I'm painfully minimal, and classic. I love fashion and I of course appreciate style, but as I get older I find myself dressing for utility, which I find quite liberating! One of my favourite places to shop is The Apartment by The Line.

If you could live anywhere in the world, other than New York City, where would you choose and why?

If I could take some real time off and have an exploratory year, I would learn French, bounce around Europe, then end up in Indonesia to spend time with family.

Finish this sentence: My last meal in New York City would be…

At Estela, a Mediterranean restaurant set above Houston Street.

Tell us a New York secret…

This it a bit nerdy, but there's a Federal Reserve Bank Tour of New York that I've been wanting to go on. I've read that 80 feet below the floor of bank contains 6,350 tons of gold. Foreign governments, central banks, and official international organisations send their gold to the New York Fed's vault because it is considered one of the safest in the world.

If you could have anything engraved on a Monica Vinader bracelet, what would it be?

A doodle of my dog Margot!
