Crafted with care, and made to last. Quality is at the heart of the Monica Vinader brand, and we take great pride in using only the finest precious metals.
We create our pieces with sterling silver, and 18ct gold and rose gold vermeil. But what does this mean for you?
Our mission is to bring fine jewellery to the lives of everyday women around the world, so we continue to lead the revival of 18ct gold vermeil - a 19th Century form of gold-on-sterling silver craftsmanship that originated in France. 18 carat gold is seen as the highest percentage of gold alloy that can be used to create durable jewellery, because pure 24 carat gold is extremely soft.
Vermeil pieces are always made of solid sterling silver, which is plated with a minimum of 2.5 microns of gold - a thick and durable layer. This is 5 times thicker than the minimum for 'gold plated' jewellery (which could also be plated onto non-precious metal). The combination of these unique quality factors make Monica Vinader 18ct vermeil jewellery not just precious, but long-lasting as well.
Sterling silver represents the highest standard of silver, being the highest percentage silver alloy that isn't too soft to be used for jewellery. It can be identified by the 925 hallmark stamp - confirming that the alloy is 92.5% silver.
As sterling silver can be prone to tarnish, we apply an anti-tarnish solution to our silver product, which helps keep it looking pristine for longer. Click below to learn more about how to care for your jewellery, including how to remove tarnish.
Every Monica Vinader piece of jewellery is tested and hallmarked by an independent third-party Assay Office to guarantee that the precious metal is of the fineness stated. So you can rest assured, we're as good as our word.
