Jewel Conversation: Hedvig Opshaug

Hedvig Opshaug is the creator of the beautiful Northern Light fashion blog. We met with Hedvig in the village-like suburbs of south London, on location for our Jewel Co-ordinates shoot, to hear about her love for delicate diamonds and minimalist design.

What's your favourite thing about south London?

After living in the busy West End for years I appreciate the calm residential feeling of south London. It's almost like living in a village, with your local pub and restaurant on the corner and the beautiful communal gardens. And it's still only a short distance to the pulse of the city.

In three words, describe south London style.

Classy. Chic. Minimalist.

Silver, gold, rose gold, or all of the above?

All of them. I always mix my metals. There are no rules, but sometimes your skin complexion suits some more than others.

What's your favourite gemstone colour for summer?

White agate, as I'm more of a minimalist, and I feel that white gemstones blend better with other pieces.

On an average day, how many pieces of jewellery will you wear?

I always wear a tiny necklace and subtle ear rings, and prefer adding extras on my wrists and fingers. Always at least 3 bracelets and loads of stacked rings. So I guess I wear 15 to 20 pieces every day, which probably makes me a diamond jewellery junkie.

What are your jewellery staples?

Definitely my diamond rings, a selection of gifts over the years and my favourite MV eternity bands.

What do you love most about MV?

I'm a big fan of the engraving and stacking principle. It makes jewellery so much more personal, and perfect for gifting.

What's your favourite MV piece and why?

I love my Skinny Diamond Bracelet so much I never take it off.

Where is your number one summer hangout?

Chelsea and Kensington, but I can't decide one particular place, as you've got a range of cosy pubs, restaurants and bars.

Tell us about your happiest memory from a London summer.

Oh how to pick one, I'm creating memories every day now. My little girl is 17 months old, so this year we really get to enjoy summer in London in a different way, but our daily playful walks in Kensington Gardens are certainly amongst them.
